In Ancient Greek Mythology, pomegranates played a role in the changing of seasons. Persephone, daughter of Demeter (goddess of the harvest) was kidnapped by Hades (god of the underworld). By the time Demeter found her daughter, Persephone had already eaten six pomegranate seeds from the underworld. Therefore, it was pronounced that, for six months of the year, Earrings Persephone must return to Hades in the underworld. When Persephone returns back to her mother Demeter, Spring and Summer begin, and the earth can bloom once again.
Material: Pomegranate is cast in bronze with a hand-patina finish accented in antiqued gold and cast glass.
